I am so sorry I have been absent for so long. I have loads of shoots, 3 weddings and thousands of pictures to share with you! I just spent a month in Colorado enjoying the mountains. I plan on getting caught up on my blog posts.

The day after News Years day, I was blessed to have shot Travis and Christine's wedding. These two flew all the way out from CA to brave the cold Illinois day to get married in front of family and friends. Thank you guys!

Megan brought her three gorgeous children in to be photographed last week. I adored them! Drew, the oldest girl, is so very beautiful. She has the perfect sassy face. I nicknamed her "sassy". Sydney's smile is so huge and wonderful, even when its a fake smile... hahaha... I called her "Ham". Jack was "the cheese". He was so adorable! He reminds me of my Grant.
Megan, you are one lucky lucky lady! I had a ton of fun with all four of you! It was an hour of giggles and then some when I came back and edited these.

All the way from New Mexico!; Monticello IL family photos

John is our brother-in-law's older brother. He and his wife Stacy live in New Mexico and were home to celebrate an early Christmas with their family out here. Stacy contacted me about a month or two ago to book a lifestyle family shoot to take place while they were here.
I was so excited to see them again. I shot the whole "T" extended family last winter. To see that look here They are the first family featured in that blog post.
We all rode together in the car to Allerton Park. I was a bit worried about little Will taking pictures in the December air. It was in the low 30s that day.

He was such a tropper, though, I had no need to worry. For a little one who is just shy of 2... he didn't let the cold hold him back!
Stacy had mentioned to me that they love unposed photos. She specifically referred to the style of photography that she loves as "Lifestyle". I LOVE it when my clients request this type of photography because it allows me to capture them as they truely are!
John, Stacy and little man, I enjoyed our shoot and I hope you love the results!

Shhhh! A Christmas Surprise for mom; Hoopeston IL Family portraits

Darci emailed me and asked if I could squeeze her in for a shoot before Christmas. She said that she and her brothers want to surprise their mom with portraits for Christmas! I had one opening left and I was happy to do it!

Multi Family shoot; Milford Illinois Family photography

I marveled at the beautiful land that I was about to shoot on as I drove up the drive.
I was fortunate to have been hired to do a multi family shoot for an extended family a few weeks ago.
Most of the kids in this shoot I knew already through Milford High school (as either former football players or girlfriends of my husband's players.)
This was the first time I got to meet parents, older sibblings and significant others. Kara, a sophomore at MHS and girlfriend to MCP's starting full back, asked me if I'd be available Thanksgiving weekend to do a photoshoot for her family and cousin's families. I was more than happy to accept.
I had so much fun meeting these families. The dynamics and relationships they have are very similar to my own extended family.

I always say I have the best job in the world. This is true not only because I love taking photos and editing them, but also because I get to meet so many great people who are happy to be around me. The occasions I am shooting are always special.

H family and C families, thank you for opening up your home and allowing me to capture these precious times in your lives. To be American and healthy is such a gift from God, but to be blessed with such a family such as yours is a testimony of God's overflowing love and abundant blessings!

Meet Ava and Ella.These two are spunky sisters. Their beautiful mama brought them in for their annual Christmas photos and I am certainly glad that she did! I enjoyed every second of their photo shoot. These two are such fun little girls. I hope I can continue to take their photos in years to come!

The "H" Family; Matthew 6:25-34; Champaign Illinois Family photography

Stacie contacted me through my website many months ago. She had seen some of my work around town and wanted to book a family photoshoot. Many months passed and schedules were hard to work around. After a couple rescheduled dates, we finally got the shoot in. The day was so beautiful. Jason and Stacie drove their large family to Middlefork Forest preserve right outside of Rankin. I followed them in my car. Once we got out there, we had a ton of fun walking around and taking family photos. It was more of a day of hiking than a photoshoot. I enjoyed it! This family is a blended family.I am also part of a blended family. Seeing how comfortable, loving and fun this family is, independently and with one another, is a testiment to what God can do. Families come in all shapes and sizes and are composed of love, not just blood.
When I asked Stacie about how she and Jason met she simply replied, "It was such a God thing. There is no other explaination for it. We wouldn't have met if it weren't."
Stacie has a tattoo on her wrist of a sparrow. She says it reminds her of God's promise that He will always provide and take care of us. She referenced Matthew 6:25-34

" 25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. Keegan and Heather Married!; Chesterton Indiana Wedding Photography

I first met Keegan and Heather about a month before they were engaged. I took Heather's family photos and since she and Keegan had already been together for 6 years at that point, pictures of them as a couple made sense. (It was safe to say they'd probably last.)
I can't lie. When I took those photos, I was hoping that one day I would be able to shoot their wedding.
This wedding turned out to be something quite special, even for me. Heather and Keegan are adventurous people. They reside in Kentland, Indiana but visit other places often.
It was a surprise when I found out that Keegan proposed to Heather out in Michigan City, IN at the lighthouse. (see my Modern bridal photos in the wedding site galleries for this lighthouse)
My hometown is so close to that very place.
When I heard from Heather's mom that they got engaged I was thrilled! I was shocked when she told me where they planned on traveling to in order to have the wedding and reception... It was none other than my home town, Chesterton!
I was even more floored when they told me that they were getting married in the very church that I grew up in,Liberty Bible Church!
I hadn't been home in a long time and I especially hadn't visited that church in ages! It was so fun to return. I even spotted my old youth pastor, who didn't recognize me after 10 years...(I suppose age will do that).

The ceremony was filled with loads of emotion. I believe I cried about 5 times throughout the day. Their love for one another and God was evident in every part of the day.
The most touching moment for me was when Ken, Heather's dad, saw her in her gown for the first time. He had tears in his eyes as he slowly approached her saying, "I thought I knew what beautiful was..."

Heather and Keegan chose to see one another before the ceremony and I am so glad they did. Tears were flowing then too.

I have so many sweet images from the day. Boris, the DJ from Precision Sound did a fabulous job! Amy at Sandcreek Country Club is an absolute gem to work with and I can't wait for the next wedding I have scheduled to work with her again.

Keegan and Heather are enjoying their honeymoon in Hawaii right now. I wish you two lovebirds a blessed marriage filled with love, respect and worship together! Keep God as your center and everything else will be as He intended it to be!

Michelle 2010; Watseka Illinois High School Senior Photos

Introducing another senior from Watseka High School. Michelle is a beautiful young woman. She is timid and shy. Two qualities I lack, yet admire. Michelle was nervous to go on with our scheduled senior photo shoot because it was going to rain.
When I looked at my cramed schedule I thought that we may not get a nice day again before Spring. So Michelle embraced the weather and went with it. I love the fact that she did. She rocked those rubber boots!
I had been waiting for a senior to shoot in the rain. I love the way an umbrella looks in a photo!
Michelle, you were perfect all day. Every photo of you is so beautiful! I love them all.

Meet the "L" Family! Margo is special to me because she is the dear woman who teaches my son five days a week in kindergarten. She is so sweet and I enjoy getting to know her more and more on a daily basis. Margo also seems to be one of my biggest fans. M- I appreciate your encouraging words and consistent fan following. I love it when I hear that people stalk my blog/site. It makes me feel really good! Brandon is a police officer, which is ironic because I was running late for our shoot and I got pulled over and got a speeding ticket that night. haha. I can laugh about it now.
Karsyn is the precious little rascal you will see throughout this post. She is every bit of what a 2 year old should be, cute, ornery and full of life! I adored bribing her with fruit snacks. She fell right into all my little traps and it was SOOOOOOO cute.

John and Haley Engaged!; The Country Mouse and the City Mouse; Chicago Wedding Photography

Meet John and Haley. These two grew up in different worlds. Haley grew up on a farm in Central Illinois and John grew up on the south side of Chicago. Now both reside in Chicago. John is a police officer and I hear a thick Chicago accent when he speaks. Haley doesn't have an accent though she resides in the city now.
When I asked Haley how they met she smiled. "Kind of at a bar, but really it was a benefit I was attending. I went with a friend and John was the security guard at the door. After I saw him, I walked up to my friend and said, 'Man! He is cute!' Pretty quickly after that we were talking."
These two have been together for 3 years and I am honored to be photographing their wedding this coming June. Enjoy these great photos you two. I had a ton of fun with you and Nancy (Haley's mom).

Such Dolls! The "D" Family!; Rossville Illinois Family Photographer

I could not get enough of little Olivia and Jerrod! I was editing these photos tonight and as I did so, I said to my husband, "Aside from Grant and Evelyn (our kids) these two have got to be the CUTEST KIDS in the WORLD!"
I had so much fun when I got to travel out to the family farm in Rossville and meet the "D" family!
We had so many great spots for photos and I was so thrilled that the kids were happy to be there, taking pictures. They warmed up to me after I made plenty of goofy noises and faces. I also made fun of daddy a lot which helped.

The S Family is back!; Sheldon Illinois Photography

Remember the S Family? I met them last March when they had me come out to their farm for the first time to take family portraits.

This time around, the kids were older, more familiar with me and (could it be possible?) even cuter!
Rob and Jen got a new combine and it was important for them to capture their family portrait in a way that was personal and meaningful. When they suggested pulling it out for a photo, I was thrilled!
It was rainy and cold yesterday morning, but you'd never know because these kids and this family are so great. They are tough.

Emily 2010 on Location! ; Milford IL Senior photography

Remember Gorgeous Emily? Well, I got the chance to finish her senior photoshoot on location! I love them! I am trying to figure out which one is my favorite shot... I can not decide. I still have so many more that I am in love with as well.
Emily brought along her best friend, Patricia, her dad and her little sister for the day! We all had a blast. The whole crew even blew up all those balloons for me!
Loved it. Loved them.

The bridge that Emily is standing on in the bottom shot is the Sugar Creek Chapel Bridge. According to James Cooper's Iron Monuments book, which documents Indiana's historic bridges, there have been rumors that the bridge's trussed arch came from the 1893 World Columbian Exposition Ferris Wheel. Some have also claimed the bridge came from a 1904 Indiana Building at the St. Louis World Fair.
Isn't that fascinating?!

Laura; class of 2010; Central Illinois Senior Photography

Introducing... pretty pretty Laura. She is a senior at Milford High School in Milford, Illinois.
Laura came over yesterday with her mom and friend Kristin. We had scheduled the studio portion of her senior photos for the day. Oddly, the weather was so nice that we also shot ouside for half of the time. I am thrilled that Laura has opted to shoot her "location" photos in the snow. So, we are waiting on that.

Until then, we have "fall photos" in addition to studio shots for Laura's senior session!

As you can tell, this girl is animated and fun. She was full of goofy faces that have entertained me as I sit and edit all day.

Zach and Cory Engaged city Style!; Chicago Illinois Engagement photos

Yesterday I drove up to the heart of the city of Chicago for an engagement shoot with Zach and Cory. This was my first time meeting this gorgeous couple. They found our studio through Stacey, my favorite wedding coordinator who owns
Savvy Expressions out of Champaign, IL. Thanks again for such great referrals, S!

Zach and Cory are Cubs fans and live just down the road from Wrigley Field. We thought about taking pictures out by the stadium, but went out to Millenium Park instead. I have always wanted to take pictures in front of the "Bean" and I got that opportunity!

The day was beautiful, considering how gross it's been in Illinois this year! I didn't even wear a coat for most of the day.

When I asked Cory about how she and Zach met, she said through a mutual friend, years ago. After a couple years together, Zach bought Cory's engagement ring at Tiffany's with the intentions of proposing in a couple months.
That day, they were assembling a closet system and Cory went out into the kitchen and found the receipt from Tiffany's!
Zach successfully convinced her it was from a pair of birthday earrings that he'd bought her for her birthday.
When that evening rolled around and Cory was all comfy in her pajama's Zach decided to go ahead and propose.
In shock and disbelief, Cory gazed at the ring. She told me she was puzzled that she was staring at "the ring I had picked out and told him I wanted"!
We know how the rest of the story goes.

She said, "Yes!"

Aren't these two beautiful people?!

I can't wait to shoot your wedding in June, you guys!

We spent the last hour of their "E Shoot" (engagement shoot) walking Tucker, their big loveable Great Pyrenees.

For such a big dog, Tucker was the most laid back baby! (He's scared of the L trains... awwww!) Little dogs were barking at him like crazed maniac dogs and he'd just ignore them.

I can see why you two seem to love him so much.

Amy and Will finally tie the knot!; Watseka Illinois Wedding Photography

I shot John's senior photo shoot last year. He played football for my husband at Milford High School. John is a great kid and I owe him for sending his gorgeous sister my way!

Amy and Will have been together for 6 years! I met these two when they came over to my house for our wedding consultation last winter.

Rachel and I arrived at Legion Park in Watseka last Saturday. We found Amy, her best friend and one of her five sister's in a little white tent ouside the ceremony grounds.

It was such a chilly day that I had to wear a scarf, hat and a winter coat.
Amy, however, said that she was not cold. I assumed that was due to her running around all morning.
Neither Will nor Amy seemed nervous. They were full of smiles all afternoon. Clearly these two love one another endlessly.

I have sooo many pictures to go through that I have not even looked at the gorgeous reception yet. If I have time, I will post a peek of that half of the day as well.

Andy and Kelly! Engaged!; Champaign Illinois Engagement photography

Andy and Kelly found me through Google. I am so so so happy they did! I will be shooting their wedding in May and I can't wait!

These two have a sweet love story. Andy proposed on their "first official vacation together" in Texas. He rocked the riverwalk and a swanky restaurant amidst his perfect plans to ask Kelly to marry him. Obviously, they can tell the story better.

These two share not only a great love and respect for one another but both work in banking, (a love for numbers, guys?) and a love for the Chicago Cubs... ahem.. cough cough...

LOL

Anyone who knows me or my husband knows that a mutual distaste for the Cubs brought us together. (Sox fan+Cardinals fan)

Thanks to the chicago Cubs for bringing so many couples closer!

Emily! Class of 2010!; Milford Illinois Senior Photographer

Emily is Gorgeous and she doesn't even know it.

She reminds me of the classic "girl next door". I met Emily for the first time at South Side Diner in Milford while she was working. I was at the end of a senior photoshoot and that senior, Kyle, and I stopped in to get some eats. I didn't recognize her after that which is proof that work clothes really change the way people perceive you. hahaha. (My old Jewel-Osco uniform must have left lasting impressions on people while I was in HS!)

This was only the first half of my session with Emily. We stayed in the studiodue to the rain and I am looking forward to next week when we get to finish our session on location!

Emily you are so sweet and stunning. Lisa, You are a great mother and I am so glad that I have met you!

Engaged! Loren and Erron!; Chesterton Indiana Wedding Photographer

I first met Loren during my sophomore year of high school. Though we were in the same class we weren't super close. We graduated from a class of 401 by the time we were seniors. During my senior year my mom sold our house after my dad died tragically. She bought a cute little cape cod home across the street from Loren's family!

Throughout the years, I didn't maintain many friendships from high school.
Time changes everything. One of the few people from that time who attended my wedding and then my baby shower was Loren.
She has always been a "friend". Albeit, we were not "BFF's", but I have always considered her my friend.

When Loren contacted me through Facebook awhile back and told me that she was getting married, I was floored. I had all sorts of questions running through my head! Who was it? Do I know this guy? Does he treat her and Isabel (her beautiful daughter)well?

I met Erron finally at our wedding photography consultation and he passed all my tests with flying colors. These two are two of the happiest people I know. They love each other, respect one another and share a love for "Is".

Loren and Erron, I want to make beautiful pictures for you, not just because that is what you hired me to do, but because I care so much about you guys! I hope I get the chance to exceed your expectations!

Baby Jade!; Champaign Illinois Children Photography

My husband's cousin Stacy has been attending baby shower after baby shower for years! Both she and her husband Chris are teachers and work with children on a day to day basis. It was natural for us all to assume that they wanted kids of their own. In the 6 years that I have known them, I have been waiting for their turn to come.

Stacy told the women in our family of her pregnancy all at once. we were waiting to be seated at a Chili's Restaurant in champaign when she dropped the bomb on us! We all squaealed so loudly at once that you'd think someone won the lottery!

We all watched as her sweet belly grew over the summer and eventually the long awaited day finally arrived!

Jade Elizabeth was welcomed into this world with an ensemble of eager realives waiting to greet/meet her!

Jade is so sweet and tiny. Stacy and Chris, we love you and we love her. Welcome to the family baby J!

2010 Senior Kyle P.; Cissna Park Illinois Senior Photography

I think it is appropriate that I post Kyle's sneak peek now. I just got home from the MCP Bearcats 6th season win over Danville Schlarman. This makes our record 6-1 for the seaon and gurantees us a birth in the Illinois 2A State playoffs for the first time since 1997!!! That 12 years people!!!
I am so proud of them. I am also extrememly proud of my husband who has also been name week 6 Chicago Bears HS Football Coach of the week! There are only 9 Illinois high school coaches that get this annual honor. Here is the article on that: Coach Albaugh

I can go on and on about this team and I have to say that this guy here, Kyle, is one of our key players! Tonight he had 7 carries for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns! This kid plays football like a true star and has a great personality to boot.

Kyle and his dad Todd were a fun duo on the day of the shoot. I enjoyed watching them interact as a father and son should. Kyle, your dad lights up when he speaks of you and I can tell that you have a great support system at home.

Jim and Brenda! Bloomington, Illinois Wedding Photography

There were so many wonderful details about Jim and Brenda's wedding day that I am unable to list them all. Some of the my favorites:
1. Converse kicks (shoes)
2. Short Yellow School bus trumped the limo service.
3. Bobble head Cake topper that looked exactly like the bride and groom.
4. Monster Mouth card box.
5. Day of the Dead Skeleton unity Candles
6. Craft/Scrap booking table for guest to assemble their own Guest book pages.
7. Green Screen and video Camera studio corner (w/prop box)
8. Numerous colorful umbrellas.
9. Engagement shoot spiral bound proof books (ordered through me) at each table.
10. Crazy Music.

That's my top ten. This couple wins the prize as the most creative couple that I have shot to date. Brenda and Jim, I hope you loved the way your day turned out!
Mark from Central Station Cafe was great to talk to/work with! Stacey Porter, their wedding Coordinator from Savvy Expressions was a gem. I can't wait to work with her again.

I totally did not get all the posts up today. All these late nights are catching up with me... I fell asleep after lunch and slept until after 3pm. I was 20 minutes late picking up my son from school! It was sooo sad seeing him sitting there in the main office with his little backpack on, not knowing when I was going to show up!
I need to rethink this schedule I have been running on because I am running on LOW.

Evan 3 Months!; Hoopeston, IL Children's Photographer

I am pretty behind on my blog posts. I will be putting about four of them up today. I have a wedding in Bloomington, IL tomorrow that I am really excited about too. I want to try and catch up before I leave. The problem with this is... it's Friday today. Friday means football. We'll see what I can get done before the kiddos and I take off for the MCP vs Georgetown game. We are sitting 4-1 and suffered a tough loss last week. I am hoping the boys come back with great attitudes and are ready to win!

Yesterday Emily came by with little Evan and his adorable big sister Macey. This little guy has grown SO MUCH since our newborn shoot a few months ago! Which you can view here!
He is a whopping 3 months now and so smoochable. Evan had a hard time in the studio so I will be taking him back for a reshoot in the next week or two. You cant tell from this sneak peek though because he was sooo happy the first 5 minutes of our shoot.

My Evelyn made friends with little Macey quickly. I have been waiting for them to meet! I have included a fun shot of the girls as well. ;)

Miss Iroquois County 2009!; Illinois Pageant Photography; Studio Rebekah Photography

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot my first pageant contestant last week. Holly is a bright and gorgeous senior at The University of Illinois. This summer, she was crowned Miss Iroquois county 2009 at the Iroquis county fair. She will be competing this January for the state title of Miss Illinois County fair. These photos will be used for that pageant. I was nervous about this shoot because I knew I had to follow strict rules and guidelines that I normally don't have. I only took one shot outside of the box. (See top photo) It was limiting for me, but also a challenge to harness my usual approach to photos.

Holly brought her wonderful coach Chris along. Chris also happens to be the florist who designed the flowers for my last wedding post. Her mother, Monica is a beautiful woman, so it wasn't hard to see that the apple didn't fall far from the tree! I actually thought Monica was Holly when they first arrived!

Holly's dad, Scott was a great help as he helped me switch out my backdrops and move my ladder here and there.

We were still in the middle of rennovating the office and studio so furniture was all over the place and I was so appologetic. Scott told me to take it easy and just breath.

Travis & Jen, MARRIED!; Kankakee Illinois Wedding Photography; Studio Rebekah Photography

Last week Rachel and I were shooting Travis and Jenny's fabulous wedding in Kankakee Illinois.
Jenny is a teacher at the school my husband taught at last year. When they called me, I had already been working with a bride for their wedding date. They didnt waste a second in locking in the date before anyone else could! I am so glad they did because this was one of the prettiest weddings that I have shot to date.

The ceremony and reception were both held at the Elks Country Club in Kankakee, Illnois Though the golfers were out, we still got the chance to take really cute photos along the practice course!

The wedding ceremony was nestled next to the Kankakee River and the ground was lined with rose petals and fallen leaves. It looked amazing!It was warm enough that you didn't need a coat but cool enough that it wasn't uncomfortable to be outside.

One thing that I loved about Jenny and Travis's wedding was how they hired almost entirely local vendors! The flowers were done by my friend/florist Chris Schroeder at Simple Touches in Milford, IL. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived to document the day was how great the girls' hair looked! I asked them immediately who was responsible. Jessica from Hair Vibrationsin Watseka, IL did a great job on the bride as well as Jenny from Lake Iriquois!
The man in charge of the tunes was Cory Birch from Sweet Emotions out of Milford, IL!The gorgeous cake came out of Crescent City, IL and was designed by Dee Trumble!
I have to get going today. I am heading out to Bloomington for a few photography related things. I will add more photos and tell you more about how gorgeous this wedding was when I return! Until then, Enjoy!

Off to Iraq; Oakwood, IL Couple Photography

Yesterday I had the chance to meet beautiful Katie and her husband Mike. Mike had just returned home for a short time after many months of Marine Corps training in California. He will be leaving to serve overseas in Iraq in just a few short days.

The two lovebirds tied the knot back in December and are now faced with such a huge obstacle so early on in their marriage. I admire Katie for what she has to endure and respect Mike for what he has so selflessly volunteered to do.

The way the two of them looked at one another varied from playful to enamored. I take my job seriously. Knowing that my vision, in one hour, is all they will see for the next seven months of one another... that saddens me, and honors me.

Mike has a younger cousin and a dear friend and fellow marine (his recruiter) who came along and watched the shoot.
I can not say enough about how helpful and gentlemanly they were to me. They carried my gear, retrieved things out of my car and helped make the whole shoot a bit more congenial. Thanks to both of you!

You can tell a lot about a person by who his friends are.

I know you have a long road ahead of you. You always have obstacles to face in marriage. This one is one you chose together for the sake of others. Your sacrifice, BOTH of you, is one that I know so MANY of us are indebted for.

B squared! Engaged and Married in 7 weeks!; Decatur Illinois wedding photography

This past weekend I shot another wedding in Decatur, IL. I had never met Brandon nor had I met his bride Betsy. Betsy's mother, Sherri found my site and comissioned me for the morning only 7 weeks ago! When she called, I was out shopping with my sister in the mall. I spoke with Sherri about the September 12th wedding date and it had not once occured to me that she was asking about my availability for 2009, not 2010! My kids were hollaring at me to get off the phone as well as shouting out random demands like, "WE WANT ICE CREAM MOM!". Naturally my brain was not fully functioning at the time. Although, when it did finally occur to me, I was quite surprised. Lucky for them, I was still available.

Betsy and Brandon got engaged just before I got the call and were not a couple who favored the idea of a long drawn out engagement, nor was Betsy too keen on the whole wedding planning process.

"Both Brandon and Betsy are engineers for Caterpillar," explained Sherri, "so they aren't really the type of people that get into the details of this sort of thing."

I was more than okay with that.

When I met Betsy on Saturday morning, I quickly learned how laid back she indeed was about the wedding.

I asked her,

"Have you taken a look at my website?"
to which her reply was:

"Um, maybe for like 10 seconds once. I figure, I know nothing about photography and you are a photographer, and that must mean you know what you are doing, right? I trust you."

I was simply amazed. I had never encountered someone so passive on their wedding day before.

Again, I was more than okay with that.

When I met Brandon and his best man Steve, I was equally amazed at the calm collective attitudes I encountered. During my photos with the guys, I encouraged the two to take advantage of the fuse ball table in the room. I don't know if my suggestion was a good one, because those guys can get competitive when it comes to the table! (haha)

For a wedding that was planned in only 7 weeks, I must say that Sherri and Marty (Betsy's father) pulled together an outstanding celebration!
There were details to be noticed everywhere! There were little M&M candie's with personalized phrases on them, Hershy's Kisses with the happy couples pictures at the bottom, childhood photos of the couple at each table, a catered spread that deserved about 12 salivating glances from yours truely (wonderful job by Hallmark Catering out of Peoria)and a candy bar with nylon totes for everyone to fill at the end of the event.

This wedding and reception took place at The Christian Center in Decatur where B and B attend church. They also volunteer behind the coffee bar on an occasional Sunday so it seemed only fitting that their guests enjoy the lattes and other specialty drinks before the reception. (I LOVED that part!... My mocha espresso was AWESOME by the way.)

The cake and flower vendors are slipping my mind, but I will update those as soon as I find out once more who they were.

Brandon and Betsy, I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in the Smokey mountains! Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are two of my favorite romantic spots!

In the few hours I spent with B&B, I concluded that they were by far the smiliest couple I have yet come across. Their love for one another was infectious. Watching them made me remember my wedding day and how special Nate and I felt to have all those we loved celebrating our union with us.

Kristopher 2010! ; Central Illinois Senior photography

A week and a half ago I had a great Senior photo shoot with Kyle. Today, I had just as good a time with his twin brother, Kristopher.
Kristoper is the starting quarterback for the MCP Bearcats. My husband is the head coach. You can see the video blogs of the teams progress, frustrations an day to day life on www.chiefpigskin.com under the tab: "Our First Season". As of today, the Bearcats are 2-0 this season!

Kristoper and Kyle are a lot alike. I don't just say this because they share the same DNA and have the same faces. They both adore the sport of football, love to play guitar, date two best friends and as far as I am aware they do most things together. Though I just gave you reasons why they are alike, like most people, they are also very different. I can now see the physical differences between them enough so that I can tell them apart. These two have different energy as well.

I can't really pin point where I am going with this, haha, but they are different.

Like Kyle brought his girlfriend Kara last time, Kristopher brought his girlfriend Kylie. I had fun taking pictures of both together. Today marks the 7 month anniversary of when these two started dating. Isn't that sweet?! I remember back in high school when every month was an anniversary and it was something special to be proud of. Even by todays standards, 7 months is a serious relationship to anyone who is dating!

Congratulations Kristopher on a perfect season so far! Keep up the good work and enjoy your senior year!

Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot a wedding with my dear friend and fellow photographer Kellie! You can find some of her amazing work here! Getting to shoot a wedding with her allowed me to step away from the typical shots that I take and get a little more creative. I had fun peaking through doors, playing with legos, exploring the church for interesting places (the library was where I took that ring shot) and shooting from new angles.

Our bride and groom were Erich and Ellen. These love birds met while attending a church retreat some time ago. I found that endearing since my husband and I met at a Christian summer camp so so long ago. Ellen also graduated from the same college as my dear husband (Wheaton College) so it was fun hearing phrases from her and her friends like, "Wheaties" (term for Wheaton students) and still be able to catch on.

Erich lives near Milwaukee, WI so Ellen will be uprooting herself and relocating to be with her new husband now. I am so thrilled that I got to share such an important day in your lives.

Modern Bridal, Andrea! Lafayette Indiana Wedding Photographer

You may remember Andrea and Andy from their engagement session last fall, seen here and here too or even their wedding from April of this year found here. I have had a great time over the past year taking their photos and documenting everything from the engagement photos to their wedding and the now "married years" of these two love birds. Somewhere in the time I have come to know them I came to the conclusion that these two are some of the hardest working people I know. I am lucky enough to be "friends" with Andrea on Facebook and her status updates always make me tired just reading them!
Yesterday was warmer than it has been lately, but who knows what our weather should be like. It always seems so inconsistent. We didn't travel far to take the photos for this Modern bridal shoot. We met halfway and shot the whole shoot at various locations in Milford.
I was forced to be creative since Milford is such a tiny town, but I am extremely pleased with many of the final shots.

I am thrilled to introduce my first senior representative for the class of 2010! Kyle attends Milford High School in Milford, IL. He plays fullback for MCP football as well as baseball for Milford. In addition to his athleticism, Kyle is a guitarist! He is 50% of a popular duo at Milford High school. The other half consists of his identical twin brother, Kristopher. I had a blast spending Sunday evening with Kyle and his girlfriend Kara.
Kyle, no matter what you decide to do, where you will attend college or what sports you play, you are going to succeed. You know where to place value in your life. Did somebody say football?!!!! ;Milford, IL photographer, Cissna Park IL photographer

This summer was like any other, we went on a couple vacations, got sunburned (well, I got sunburned, my two little quarter mexican's did not, nor did my dear husband) and shot a bunch of weddings! Though, my summers seem a little more short lived than the typical person's because of this one tiny little thing that America loves. Football.

I happen to be married to a man who lives, breathes and dreams the game of football. Our summers are not measured by the calendar year or even the ever changing weather, but by when conditioning ends and when football season begins. For example, I had the oportunity to actually sit as a guest 2 weeks ago at a Chicago wedding. My husband was honored to be an usher. I knew he'd have obligations during the ceremony so I was alright with sitting alone amongst a crowd of strangers because I had the hope of spending a lovely dinner reception in his company.

My hopes were short lived when we were placed at a table with another football coach and his family. (Nate actually coached alongside this other coach at a highschool from a job years earlier.) The evening was filled with discussion though (if you understand terms like, "spread defense" or "running the option").

Don't get me wrong, I have a strong desire to learn the sport. I know it would make me so much more attractive to my husband if I could sit and discuss football with him everynight. I am learning... slowly.

Okay, so I am not all knowing when it comes to the game, but in all seriousness, I LOVE Friday nights! I not only love it for the cool brisk air, the concession hot dogs and the freedom my children have to run and play, but I love it because it makes me feel like fall is here. It's familiar. Football is ALL AMERICAN! It is part of the way we live and what is good about our culture today. I love it for those reasons and I love it because it is something that drives Nate forward and brings out a passion in him.

The icing on the cake is that I have a team to root for, unlike all others, that my family is 100% invested in.

These boys, from the small towns of Milford and Cissna Park, Illinois are playing together for the first time as one team. They have the numbers, the size and the speed to go somewhere this season! We dream of the playoffs and if they can make it this year, then folks, that is a cinderella story amongst the game of high school football.

I get to watch these boys play on Friday nights and sometimes I get the opportunity to take their senior photos and get to know them on an individual basis. Last year marked the beginning of an annual poster shoot for the senior players.

I set the bar pretty high for myself then by creating a poster that I LOVED. I was unsure, going into our shoot yesterday, what I was going to do and what would look even better. Nevertheless, I am pleased once more and here are two of the 4 shots that we have to choose from:

Wedding Green Bay Wisconsin Style! ; Illinois Destination Wedding photographer

We met Erin and Dave at a wedding in Appleton, WI in Sept 2008. After viewing the final pictures of that wedding and getting engaged about a month after it, Erin e-mailed. She loved our style and envisioned it (the style)for her own wedding photos.

There are a few things that are unique about Green Bay weddings unlike many others. Here are the list of things I observed:
1. During the Chicken dance, instead of swinging your partner around with locked arms, the whole group on the dance floor forms a hand held circle and moves around.
2. Everyone knows how to Polka (usually the song is Roll out the Barrel)
3. After the ceremony, but before the reception, it is not unusual for a bridal party to "bar hop"
*both of those weddings did this and there were always multiple bridal parties present at the bars (see photo of the three brides dancing on bar)
4.There is a traditional "grand march" at the end of the night which resembles the wedding party announcement at the beginning of the reception
5.This particular wedding had a bridal party "kissing bridge" which is like London Bridges but the newly weds kiss while being locked up and are not released until the kiss is worthy of it!

All these things were wonderful and unique. I enjoyed every minute of the day with this group! They were full of laughter, smiles, clean banter and genial attitudes!

A really unique thing that Erin and Dave did was, they had a TV at the reception with Wii bowling hooked up. If the guests wanted to see them kiss, instead of tapping their wine glasses, they had to bowl a strike!

Dave and Erin, clearly you two are madly in love. There was rare photo of the two of you not smiling at one another! Rachel and I enjoyed our trip and the festivities emencely! Congratulations and Thank you!

Fun Love; Bloomington Illinois Wedding Photographer, Normal Illinois wedding photography

Meet Jim and Brenda! These two contacted me last January. They were shopping around for their wedding photographer and came across my website with their wedding coordinater. I met with them not long after and things moved forward from there.

I had a feeling these two were unique in all ways that are good when I first met them. Today's engagement session confirmed that!
Instead of being all mushy, J and B were incredibly playful. They were full of friendly banter and flirty punches. I got a kick out of watching them "fight" throughout our session and clearly this playfullness is how they show one another love. My husband and I act very similar.

Jim and Brenda had their first date on June 17th 2007 at Bloomington's Central Station Cafe. It only seemed fitting that we took photos there for the E session and it's even more fitting that these two will be holding their ceremony and reception there as well!
I guess you could say it is the place of new beginnings for the both of them.

During our shoot we had a special opportunity to shoot in a GORGEOUS empty brick loft in the downtown area. This all happened by chance and I am so grateful! I want that loft for my studio!! If I don't get that loft, I want another just like it! hahahaha

We also shot at a couple other really cool locations and I, as always, have too many favorites to choose from.

Centennial High School Senior; Champaign Illinois Photographer

Meet Jordan. He is the handsome, and very versatile middle son of a friend of mine, Pam. Pam is one of the hosts of Champaign's Morning Show on WBGL 91.7. I consider it a privledge that she and Jordan chose me to take his senior photos. Jordan is very well mannered and well rounded. This guy addressed me so politely all afternoon. He answered me with "yes, Ma'am," everytime I asked him to do something.
Jordan loves art as well as track and football. He has a long list of schools that he may be applying to but my guess is, no matter what school he attends, he is going to do very well there.
The day was mild for the end of July, though we were all very hot at one point or another. Pam relaxed with a book as Jordan and I would disappear and take photos. This young man was a natural in front of the camera. I can appreciate that. He made my job easy today. It was such a wonderful way to spend my afternoon! Thanks to you both! Enjoy your senior year at Centennial, Jordan! My senior year was full of memories that I still hold dear.

Trash the Dress Session; Michigan City, Indiana Wedding Photographer

I have so much to say about this shoot. First of all, thank you to Samantha for going out on a limb and allowing me to create art, using that wedding dress. She got in water, sand and was snuggling up with animals most of the day. A Trash the dress session does NOT ruin a wedding dress. The sessions I do are mild and for art's sake. You may want to have your dress dry cleaned and that is it. More to come on the site!Rachel and I had a blast shooting this session!

Weary Travelers; Lafayette, IN photographer; Champaign, IL Photographer

There are days that I have photos piled up in my hard drive. Many days, in fact. Lately I have been so caught up in the work aspect of photography, that I have forgotten how to enjoy it alone, at home. I have all these images buzzing through my head and visions I have not yet captured.
Last week my husband's Grandma stayed with us and we spent one afternoon looking through antique shops. I found the cutest vintage set of suitcases for a really great price of $1 each. I had these photos in my head the second I spotted them.
For stress relief , I decided to spend the afternoon yesterday having FUN with my camera and my two precious children. I drove down to old downtown Hoopeston (all 3 minutes away) and walked from the parking lot where our car was parked to these locations. Our shoot took a whole 10 minutes. I then started to drive home when Grant suggested another brilliant idea for photos that I tried to execute. I ran to two different neighbor's house asking if they had this certain "prop" that my son had called attention to. They did. Though you will not see those pictures until another rainy day. Just to keep you on your toes. Until then, enjoy these.

Near and Dear to my heart; Bloomington, IL Photographer

I first met Olivia when her brother suggested she talk with me about the annual missions trip I went on. I had spent 3 summers on the Flat Head Indian Reservations in Montana. That last summer was one I will never forget as Olivia jumped on board with me for my forth and last trip to the reservation. We spent hours on a plane to get there. I remember we talked about Harry Potter most of the way. LOL
We spent even more time (5 days) at the top of an isolated mountain with a bunch of junior high kids and just one other adult. Then there were couple more weeks in tee pees and around camp fires.
I fell in love with this woman and developed a deep rooted friendship with her through that experience. We became family 2 months later when I married her brother.
Throughout the past 6 years, I have seen her cry and laugh and yell. She has done everything from console me, defend me and honor our friendship.
I introduced her to her husband Matt on a whim and a year later they were married. The day I found out she was pregnant, I cried.
We introduced beautiful Lyla to the world on May 25th 2008 and I cried then too.
I love this family and their love for one another is great and overwhelming. God smiles on them daily. Matt, Olivia, Lyla, I hope you like your photos!

Baby Toes and Baby Nose... ; Central Illinois Newborn and Children Photographer

When I got a call from Emily this week asking if I could squeeze in her smoochable little newborn for a session, I was thrilled.
Though I am in the middle of wedding season and I am busier than ever, I had to make it work. The last time I saw Emily she looked unpregnant (though she indeed was) and I shot her daughters 18 month photos. Now 26 months old, Macy is a proud big sister.
Evan James came into this world 2 weeks ago with a head full of ash blonde hair and weighing in at 7 pounds 6 ounces.
Emily's labor, though easier than her first, was not an easy process. (Come on ladies, you know this is true for us all!) I don't care how many kids you have... IT HURTS!
After Evan got nice and toasty and had a full belly he was a doll to photograph! Macy had a great time playing with my baby blocks as I took her brother's photos and when I took photos of her, she had to view them for approval.
I giggle as I sit her just remembering her saying, "OOOh, That's a GOOD ONE!," after viewing her photos on my LCD screen.

Andy and Emily, your new home is gorgeous and only overshadowed by the beauty of your two beautiful children. They are so precious! God has surely blessed you both with abundance! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Happy Birthday America!; Milford, IL Family Photographer

I had a very nice 4th of July weekend. Not that the whole weekend would be considered the "4th". The weekend started off with a busy Friday which included a wedding consultation and a family photoshoot. The "S" family, though rooted in the area, traveled from places like Houston, TX and even Sweeden to be together for the holiday. I was thrilled to be chosen to capture their reunion! I had a nice time this evening photographing Meridith, Steve and their 3 ninas, Ella, Ava and Liza. What a joy it was to approach this shoot naturally. Meridith and Steve just wanted real moments and it isn't often that I have people embrace "Lifestyle" photography. When you look back on these photos though, you will always know that there wasn't someone yelling or trying to create the "perfect photo" these are perfect because of the love that genuinely exists in this family. The girls are joyous and full of smiles and songs! I loved every minute of it!

As you remember, Evan and Mirahida (see two posts below) celebrated their wedding this weekend in Brook, IN and Lafayette, IN. The Ceremony was held at the beautiful United Methodist Church in Brook and the Ceremony at the gorgeous Duncan Hall in Lafayette.
Though already married by law, this ceremony was still incredibly touching and full of new, young love! Evan glowed as he gazed at his wife and Mirahida never had a loss for wonderful words to spill over Evan.
Rachel did a wonderful job this weekend capturing the little details of the day. Many of these shots were taken by her, edited by myself.

I was excited that Evan was part of our United Stats Coast Guard! I have such a huge respect for our Armed Forces! Thank you for your Sacrifices, Evan!

A funny part of the evening was the bouquet/garter tosses. The girls just about trampled one another for the bouquet and the single men stepped as far away from the garter as they could. They let it just hit the floor.

Sometimes I like to compare the shots Rachel captures to the shots I get. There are times when we capture the exact same moent but the photos look so incredibly different. I have two outtakes here that you can see Rachel shooting in the balcony of the hall and I am on the dance floor. Both Shots are of the same moment but you can see how it may be beneficial to always have two photographers for varieties sake.

Her e-mail to the station discussed how her mother would love nothing more than a professional family photo taken. Lori's mother, Pat has been diagnosed with stage four cancer and has been battling it hard the past 6-8 weeks. Please keep their family in your prayers. Lori, Pat and everyone else. These pictures mean a lot to me because of what they represent. Pat, this is your legacy. You are beautiful inside and out and if you hold to Jesus, you will be more than alright.

Beaches and Weddings!; Destination Wedding Photographer, Virginia Beach, VA

Mirahida and Evan met in school while living in a small Rural town in Indiana. Evan was the star swimmer on the swim team and Mirahida was a few years younger but ironically had Evan's mother as a teacher and loved her. Years later, Mirahida finds that the teacher she loved is now her mother-in-law and that swimmer is her husband.
I was fortunate enough to take a pre wedding shoot for the couple while out on vacation in Virginia Beach, VA this week.
Evan is Coast Guard and the two married via court house a year ago before moving out East. Though already married, this loving duo is excited to be having a wedding ceremony and reception back home this coming weekend and Rachel and I will be there to cover every minute of it!
I love how this shoot turned out. I love Virginia beach! Those blue skies and the Atlantic are so dreamy. I envy anyone who lives there! Mirahida and Evan, enjoy these!

I have had the most wonderful time while on vacation here in Virginia Beach, VA! My wonderfully generous aunt and uncle own a 5 bedroom beach house on the Atlantic Ocean and have allowed us to stay for the week. My family as well as my sister's family have been enjoying the pool and beach here for the past 5 days! I am thrilled to be able to share some photos I took of my own family, my sister's and my beautiful cousin Missy's family on the beach last night. I got to travel down a road that I have not traveled down in many years. A road of significant importance to me. Revisiting the area that I grew up in and the town that I once called, "home" was something special. I only had the opportunity to do so because my cousin hired me to take her family portraits and she now lives in that area. I loved visiting Treva and Darren's home! It's huge and beautiful. Darren has added an extention onto the back of the house that basically allows a huge private quarter for the two older kids! It's really something quite impressive and I give him huge props for doing 99% of the work himself! I adore these kids and they were some of the most cooperative that I have shot so far! Last weekend I was honored to be the wedding photographer for my older brother's wedding. Every morning I have a routine. I wake up. (Usually to the sound of my two year old daughter saying, "THE SUN IS UP MOMMY!") After I slowly manage to get my feet out of the bed and down the stairs, I start my coffee and I turn on 91.7 fm. This station is otherwise known as Family Friendly WBGL. I always catch the second have of the Morning Show with Tim and Pam. I laugh as I listen to the two of them and check my e-mail at the same time.
WBGL stays on my radio all day, every day. Even now as it is 12:26am I have it on. It's my comfort and my constant reminder of WHY I even have work, a computer, a family, a desk to sit at... I am blessed. My God is AMAZING and FULL of GRACE and WONDER! Listening to WBGL reminds me of that. It keeps my feet planted on the ground and my mind focused on the "BIG PICTURE"... that being that I was created for a purpose; to glorify my God in what I do and all I do.
I am so lucky to play a small role with WBGL. I have had the oportunity to shoot a huge concert, give away a photo package for Mother's Day and now shoot their staff photos. If you listen to Patty Dudley's show between 7pm and midnight you may hear my business mentioned on the air.
I had a blast meeting these individuals and even more fun taking their photos yesterday! To the staff, you too are blessed. Continue to use your gifts to honor God and your lives will be so fulfilling. Only He can satisfy.

This Memorial Day I am proud to post a very special event. I could not think of a more relative tribute to the men and women that serve for our country then to share one of the happier days in the life of one of our Army's own, my big brother, Bob. He is an officer in the United States Army and I am so very very proud of him. He is a brilliant man, brother, father and now husband. He could NOT have found a more perfect,loving and patient woman than my sister-in-law, Laura! I love her. The day was gorgeous and a backyard wedding has never been as lovely as this one. I seriously had a great time this evening during my senior photoshoot with Cole. I live in a town with so many old buildings and vintage looking things that I have to hardly walk out my front door before I find a great location for a senior photo! Cole, as many of my senior boys are, was a bit reserved and shy. Though, he did everything his mother and I asked of him and was a great sport! Champaign Illinois Wedding Photographer; Studio Rebekah; May I have this Dance?

This past weekend Rachel and I drove out to Champaign, IL to shoot Alessandro and Erica's wedding. When I first met with them at their consultation I was thrilled to discover that the church that they were marrying in was one of those churches on my list of churches that I wanted to shoot!

I arrived at the church at the same time as the bride and was immediately asked to make sure the groom was out of site. Erica did not want Alessandro to even see her veil before it was time, and I appreciated that.

When the moment did come for the two loves to see one another for the first time, I was there to capture it.

It is evident to anyone who knows these two, that they are madly in love and Alessandro adores Erica. I have so many photos of his face lighting up as he looks at his bride.

Alessandro hails from Venezuela and most of the guests and half of the bridal party consisted of Venezuelans who could laugh, dance and drink!

I had the most fun while watching this group dance! The happy couple met for the first time while being out, dancing so it was only appropriate that I say this: Their first dance was the best I have seen so far, shooting weddings. Everyone clapped as they did twists and turns and dips!

I have so many favorites and those I have shown you don't even graze the top of those! More to come!

I woke up on mother's Day to the smell of bacon and eggs and the sound of screaming in my ears, "MOM!!! WAKE UP!!! Don't you know it's MOMMY'S DAY?!!!" Little did my children know that mommy didn't want to wake up on "Mommy's Day" like they do on Christmas morning, eagerly anticipating the surprises the day may hold in store. On the contrary, mommy wanted to sleep in. Though, I could not muffle out the excited little voices of my two little monkeys. I pulled myself up, squeezed my babies and walked toward the savory smell of bacon. What a wonderful husband I have. The kids even made me cards.

There was a very special part of this mother's day that had been in my books for a month or two. A shoot for a 91 yr old mother of 14. It was amazing that all 14 children (her children... but very much adults) were present, in coordinating attire and willing to cooperate!! How inspiring to have lived such a life. I know that sometimes men have a hard time seeing things from a woman's perspective and I understand even more that it takes a mother to understand what another mother values.

Thanks to the time and effort of one daughter that found a way to make the day happen, with everyone present, willing to stand around their mother, she can now have something to look upon and remember like the memories I now have of my children on this Mother's Day. Her children will also have something to look upon and remember her, and her legacy... which undoubtedly is... her children.

Today I got the chance to shoot the three beautiful nieces of the senior posted before this post. Along with the stunningly beautiful trio came two little boy cousins! I love children photography. This is what I spent a year portfolio building in. My two rascals are not easily photographed because they are perfectly aware of all my tricks and motives by now. Though, fresh new faces are NOT aware of all my little tricks and that is how I can produce images with such genuineness! Plus kids are natural pleasers and so easily entertained! My Associate Photographer, Rachel and I drove up to Lindenhurst and Buffalo Grove, IL to shoot this fabulous wedding. Linda, the bride, and I share a mutual friend. That friend, Hilary referred me as a photographer 8-9 months ago. I am thrilled that she had because this was a most beautiful and over the top wedding! The day began (for us)at the bride's parent's home. The venue was lovely and the details of the attire were stunning. We had a rainy cold Saturday, and you won't find any outdoor shots in this collection but I am very happy with what I am seeing so far in our photos. I had no rhyme or reason to what I chose for the sneak peek other than these were all very easy to edit. Thank you Linda and Chris for allowing Rachel and I to be such a huge part of your special day!

2009 Wedding Season kick off!

That's right, my last wedding was back in December. I guess no one wants to get married in Jan, Feb or March??? Well, I can't say that is totally true since I have 2 Jan 2010 weddings booked. Some must like to rough it in the cold. ;)
This weekend was a very big one for me and my assistant Rachel, as we got to shoot our first wedding of 2009!
Andy and Andrea are the sweetest couple and so totally in love.

There were moments during the ceremony that were truly pure. Both the bride and the groom looked nervous. Andrea could hardly lift her bashful yet glowing face up to Andy's as she approached him at the alter.
There wer tears of joy from the parents, sunny blue skies, laughter from the bridal party and so many more wonderful memories captured. I especially enjoyed the free time available for my assistant and I!

Cars were driving down the roads of Watseka, honking there horns joyfully at the newly weds. Our time out in public was full of just plain ol' fun!

To the families, we thank you for allowing us to be a part of your blessed day.

Another one down... not long til graduation!

I had the pleasure of being selected to photograph another one of my husband's football players for senior photos! John is off to Pennslyvania for schooling in deisel mechanics! Wow, what a brain?! Anyhow, John, his mother Tammy and I had a good time driving around my old, old town, trying to find places that yelled out, "Nasty" to me! hahaha. Needless to say, I live in a photographers paradise as there are many places that have that vintage/rough look to them!
I had a nice time. I have to share this story though. It was too funny for me to keep to myself.
At one point during our shoot, while trying to make John smile genuinely, I said to him, "Just imagine a cute girl behind me is waving to you." John replied immediately, "I don't know about a cute girl... but I see a fat guy???"
At that point, I about fell over laughing!

Chris Tomlin, Israel Houghton and New Breed!

I had the best Saturday night ever with my fellow photographer/friend, Kellie, shooting the Tomlin concert in Hoffman Estates, IL at the Sears Center!The concert was sold out at around 11,000 people!

The night was full of voices praising our most amazing a beautiful God, dancing, yelling and singing joyously. I can't say enough about how awesome it all was. Not only did I enjoy the worship, but I had a wonderful media pass that allowed me to shoot the amazing artists who were there, Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels and Israel Houghton and New Breed. I also got to meet Chris, Isreal & his lovely wife and some singers from New Breed! So far, I am too far behind in editing my normal shoots to edit all the cool shots I got, but I have some here of Israel and New Breed. Thanks goes out to the AMAZING STAFF at WBGL radio WBGL for the opportunity! I loved meeting Patty and Pam (and family) and Jen! I had a really sweet time during my shoot with the "S" Family today! (Well, yesterday technically since I am typing this at 12:45am).

Jen, called me up and said that she and her husband wanted to give custom photography a shot. She told me about their 5 beautiful children, and I couldn't wait to meet them! J,K,D,M and R were the cutest kids! They just itched to let me take their pictures (unlike my own kids) and were quite helpful! Baby R was 4 months old and the picture of the tiny hand below is when Daddy came home and said "hello". I adore that shot.
The "S" family also had a new little chocolate lab pup named Max that was full of puppy kisses and energy. He was soooooooo cute and playful!

A Quiet Star

I had a beautiful day to shoot a senior from Milford, Ryan. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping. I was so so very excited to get my camera out of the house and into the world again. Just like Whitney's shoot last weekend, I got to take Ryan to my favorite spot, the brick road. It happens to only be a block away from my house. We also drove out to Milford and took some shots in the town and in the high school gym. If you are wondering about the title, I want to add... my husband is Ryan's football coach and we both are baffled by him because he shines so brightly in athletics but his personality remains humble and gentle. He had very few words today but a great genuine smile and I enjoyed myself very much. Thank you to Kelcy and Tammy for coming along. Enjoy the sneak peek everyone!

Today was a beautiful day!!! I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely girl named Whitney and her boyfriend, Jesse. Whitney is a senior at Milford High School.

We thought that we would only be in studio with the time of year and the unpredictable weather here in east central Illinois, but we got lucky. Though chilly, the day was bright and beautiful. As you can tell, Whitney has "Pantene Pro-V" hair. She made a lovey model for the morning. Thank you so much to both of you for being so flexible and easy going. (Justice... you're next.. *wink*)

I had a fun time shooting the staff of Trinity Church in Watseka yesterday afternoon. I know I have not posted in a month.... that is so bad. I want to assure all of you that I have many pictures to share with you and I am working on designing my first sample wedding flush mount album.

In addition, I have been booking weddings and meeting wonderful couples for consultations. Things have been a little different than the norm for me. I have a handful of senior photoshoots coming up.

I am so excited to be working with Trinity church out of Watseka, IL for their brochure and website as well as Family Friendly WBGL (www.wbgl.org If you are around here 91.7 fm). I will be shooting the Christ Tomlin concert on March 28th as a photographer for WBGL. I am thrilled about that and make sure to listen for my business on the air.

For fun, I made my two sisters and my brother smile for my camera while they were here for my son's 5th birthday party. Yes,I have a 5 yr old son. Just typing that makes me feel old. He is my hearts joy.

I had a really great senior photoshoot today with a very sweet girl. Courtney is a senior/athlete at the school that my husband coaches football for! She was such a trooper as it was very cold outside today and we went all over two towns and took outdoor shots over a 3 hour time span. Yesterday I had the opportunity to finally do a photoshoot for a good friend of mine. She was gracious enough to babysit my kids while I did the session posted before this one as well. When I returned to her house to begin shooting her new baby boy, it was unrecognizable. I had a maternity shoot today with a charming woman whom I happen to share a mutual friend with. She was so tiny and had the perfect baby bump. Tracey's long awaited little one is a girl and should arrive somewhere around February 26th, which is also my oldest's birthday. We had a nice time in my home studio shooting shots with props and talking about pregnancy. IT was a really relaxed shoot and I am so grateful that Tracey, and our mutual friend, Allison drove the 3 hours to get here and let me take such important photos. After my shoot with the "L" family, I packed up my car and drove to Milford, IL to meet the extended family. Mary, (Mrs. L) has one brother and two sisters. Everyone was home for the holidays at their mother's house. I love that house. It is full of light. I covet that light. I didn't have to set up a single external source of light! It was a challenge shooting 25 people, but not impossible! I came out alive and smiling! hahaha. To everyone, thank you. You made my job very easy and I was so happy to be a part of your day! The "L" Family!

Yesterday the "L" family came to my home studio for a fun little family shoot. As they all live apart, this was the best time to do it! Mary (Momma "L") saw another shoot that I had recently done and wanted to get some photos of her own family done before the holidays!
We had a good time as we joked around and tried to make the little ones laugh! I tell ya, I become a complete fool when I photograph little children. I find myself imitating animal sounds and dancing.... if only I could maintain some dignity once in a while, hahaha. Anything for a great shot, right?
Not only were the "L's" fun and obviously good looking but they were natural. That is something that I really appreciate. It makes my job so much easier! It was also Bill's (Papa "L") birthday yesterday! I hope these remind you, Bill, of what a wonderful life yours has probably been so far!
I had a great time meeting all of you! (Bill, Mary, Mike, Carrie (sp?), baby Rener, Luke and little Carter)! I hope this was the first of many sessions we can have together!

A Christmas Wedding

If you remember Christine and Michael from their Engagement shoot back in October, then you can recall how in love they appeared to be at that time. I witnessed an even greater love between them this past Friday when they committed their lives to one another in marriage. This wedding was so beautifully touching that I doubt there were many dry eyes present.
Christine has a way about her that makes everyone she encounters just a little happier. Michael has a giant heart full of love for his bride and new family and a wonderful sense of humor. I wish so badly that I could take magic photos of these too. My skills are just not up to par with how I wish I could capture them! I love you guys. I am so glad that through this business I have found two new wonderful friends! Enjoy your sneak peek and your lives together!

A Surprise for their Mom and Dad!

I had a really fun shoot tonight. (Well, last night, since it is 1:49 am... I have yet to get to bed) I got a call from Matt who wanted to know if I could squeeze him and his sibblings into a shoot. You see, they want to give the photos as gifts to their parents for Christmas. I thought that was so sweet and I made some of my time available for them to come over to the house studio!
We had fun trying to come up with different poses. When I gave these four the freedom to be creative themselves, well... you can see what they came up with on shots 2 and 4! hahahaha... Actually, my favorite shots so far.

A Sweet Maternity Shoot

This Friday I had a maternity shoot with the sweetest couple. Anne contacted me via e-mail a few weeks back to see if I was coming up to the suburbs for any shoots. She and her husband Kelvin were refered to me by Anne's SIL, Kim, whom I knew through a book club I used to run. Thanks Kim! Anne and Kelvin work and live on Trinity International University's campus in Deerfield, IL. It was such a cool place to shoot! I love this top hallway shot. It just captures their lives perfectly! I will also have the opportunity to shoot baby boy T's newborn shoot after he is born! I am thrilled about that! Anne and Kelvin, I was envious of the amount of love the two of you share! I had a wonderful shoot tonight with The "G"Family. Macey is now 18 months old and cute as they come! I adored her! I think she and E- could be great little girlfriends. I tried out some new props tonight on Macey and she liked them just as much as I did! So much so, she cried when we took them away! Bless her little heart! Andy and Andrea's followup E shoot

Well, you remember Andy and Andrea. We only had 40 minutes for their alotted 90 minute shoot last time so we met up yesterday for our finish.
These two are so cute and so in love. It makes me happy to be a part of their special day in April. This shoot looks a lot different than our first. I am much happier with these results as I was not fighting time and the sun. Enjoy you guys!

I love Libertyville, IL! Even though I am about 3 hours from there now, I went up yesterday for a shoot. Well, with all the charm Libertville has to offer add one more thing to the list: the "B' family.
This is not the same "B" family as a few weeks ago. Charissa found my website through a mommy site online. I was so flattered to hear that someone anonymous had recommended me!
I love meeting new families and the "B" family is as charming and cute as they come.
This was typically a 15 m shoot for little Tyler, but I took a handful of family shots too.
I have to thank you guys for putting up with me and that weather I made you stand out in. It was about 39 degrees up there yesterday and we had been outside for about 45 minutes. Tyler was a trooper in the house for pictures but outside was more of a challenge.
Seriously though, what baby wouldn't scream in 39 degree weather?!

I have a friend, Jen, who moved a couple months ago. She moved the same time as our family did. We have many things in common and I was bummed that we both had only 6 months or so getting to know one another. During that time, though, she and I became friends. I watched her son, for a couple of those months and her husband and my husband were wrestling coaches together. I have been taking Jalen's piture since he was 4 months old. You can see him on my website. He is now walking and just about a year. I just LOVE taking his picture because his eyes are always so sparkly and his skin is soft and the perfect tone.
I had fun meeting Jen's sister and her parents for this family shoot.
We didn't let the cold November air affect us too badly. Of course, that is easy for me to say since I had 4 layers on and gloves and a hat. *wink*
I hope you all love these shots. I think they are going to make Grandma very happy for Chrsitmas!

Another Wonderful Enagement Shoot! Andy and Andrea!

Meet Andy and Andrea! I had fun meeting Andrea and her mom, Melinda at our wedding consultation a couple of weeks ago! She has a great personality and is so down to earth. I had not met Andy until our shoot yesterday. I am sure I kind of scared him as I was on my toes throughout the whole first half of our shoot. You see, when I scheduled the shoot, I forgot about the time change that was to occur 4 days before hand! So instead of have an hour and 20 minutes of daylight, I had just 20 minutes. *snicker*
So, the second they came to the door, I made them haul booty and follow me. So, without saying much more, I am going to do a reshoot with the two of them sometime next week. Here is what we got yesterday. I am still pretty pleased with these results. I just want to offer my best for my brides and grooms and I can not do that while being rushed. Andrea, your new hair is AWESOME! I meant to ask you where you had it done. I hope you love these shots you two!

An Engagement shoot on a Chilly Sunday

Well, we did everything but jump over the moon to get this shoot done! hahaha. I drove up 4 hrs to shoot this lovely couple and I didn 't have a phone with me. The shoot didn't end up happening but we made it work this past weekend when we met halfway, both driving about 2 hours and meeting in Kankakee IL!

I met Christine and Michael at their wedding consultation last spring. We had instant chemistry, as a photog and his/her clients should. These two keep me entertained all day long.
Christine has the happiest and bubbliest personality. It rubs off on me when I am around her. Michael is lighthearted and tells a few good jokes. They are madly, yes madly, in LOVE.

It was a very cold day this past Sunday and we FROZE. We hiked through the forest preserve and I got hoisted up into a tree to get shot #7.

I thought it would be my favorite shot above all others but oddly, number one trumps all. I love that sun flare!!! It is so stinking angelic!

The "W" Family!

I had a ton of fun meeting the "W" family this weekend during a travel shoot to Layfayette, IN. This family is not only handsome, but tons of fun!
I met first with son Brandon, daughter Heather and Heather's long term boyfriend, Keegan.
Being at the end of graduate school and undergraduate, Brandon and Heather had slim availability for this shoot, but their mom, Sabrina, made sure it happened.

I had a blast making the guys climb in trees or hike to steep little cliffs, just for the sake of a good shot. Heather was a complete trooper, as she was looking very nice yet didn't let the cold or the mud interfere with what I asked of her.

I captured shots that still make me laugh as I edit them, and there were two or three times I laughed myself to tears during my time with them.

About an hour after I began with the twenty-somethings, mom and dad showed up. I then got to tease and play with the whole family.

Ken, I didn't hate your khaki pants, just so you know. *wink*

I have to add, this is one of the most loving families I have yet encountered as a photographer. Ken, your love for Sabrina just made you glow and Sabrina, your love for your kids was so warming.
Heather and Brandon, you made me hope that my son and daughter would grow to have a relationship modeled like your own.

Keegan and Heather, you are a sweet couple. If wedding bells are in your future, please keep me in mind! ; )

Fall and Football go hand in hand

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot the Milford Illinois junior football league! It was so much fun. I shot all 4 teams on the high school field while my husband, the high school head coach was running practice. It was the first time we have worked anywhere near one another at the same time. Kind of a cool feeling. My kids got to run around with the little football players and cheerleaders while I was shooting. Thank you to all the parents and kids who helped with that.
I took a variety of team photos and the standard individual poses. I liked how the unique team photos turned out! I prefer them to the lined up team shots that I did. Players, cheerleaders and coaches, thanks for your cooperation! I hope I get to do this for you every year!

Clint's Senior Photoshoot.

This weekend I had the opportunity to do a senior photoshoot for one of my husband's football players! We had no idea what was in store for the evening, I must say. Aside from the basic shots, which you see below... we visited a football field, a park, sewage treatment plant, a cemetary (pic 2) and we hiked into the woods to get a shot of Clint in his tree stand, decked out in camo and bow & arrow!
This was by far the most interesting of these shoots I have done!
Clint, his mother and I all got eaten alive by mosquitos. Ah, the sacrifices we make for a good photo!
